Engineering assumptions

The calculator uses the free-space path-loss model only: FSPL = 32.44 + 20 log10(frequency in MHz) + 20 log10(distance in km). It does not model walls, foliage, reflections, Fresnel clearance, multipath, antenna pattern, regulatory EIRP limits or client-specific transmit power. For normal enterprise WLANs, use it as a link-budget learning and design aid rather than a substitute for a predictive or physical site survey.
