LC duplex
LC is a small-form-factor connector widely used with SFP and SFP+ optical transceivers. A common 10GBASE-SR or LR link uses one duplex LC connector at each end, with separate transmit and receive fibres.
SC
SC is a larger push-pull connector. It is common in legacy and telecom/structured fibre installations but is less compact than LC for high-density switch hardware.
MPO/MTP
MPO is a multi-fibre connector family used where several fibres are presented in one connector. MTP is a brand associated with a particular enhanced MPO connector design. Parallel Ethernet standards can use multiple fibre pairs, so polarity and fibre count become critical.

Connector loss matters
A fibre link budget includes attenuation in the fibre plus losses from connectors and splices. A route that is under the headline distance can still fail if it has excessive insertion loss, poor terminations or too many patch points.
Polarity
Duplex links need transmit and receive paths to arrive at the correct receiver. MPO systems add more complex polarity schemes because multiple fibre positions are mapped between ends. Document polarity rather than relying on patching by trial and error.
Cleaning and inspection
Dirty end faces can introduce significant loss or intermittent behaviour. Inspect and clean connectors using the appropriate fibre-cleaning process before testing or connecting production links.
